The cayenne pepper diet is an extreme detox diet in which you can lose a lot of weight very quickly. This diet is also called the lemonade diet or maple syrup diet as the main foods include lemonade, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. The basic gist of the diet is that you only drink specially made lemonade for 10 days and do not eat any other foods.

Once you have made it through the first 10 days you move into the second phase of eating the cayenne pepper with either salt water or non caffeinated laxative tea. Then you move onto the post cleanse.
The first phase will have you eating a low amount of calories and foods such as a lot of salads so you are preparing your body. Then you begin the diet. The lemonade you will be drinking is made of maple syrup, cayenne pepper powder, lemons and distilled water. The recipe is 1. 10 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, 10 oz distilled water and 2 tablespoons lemon juice.
Most individuals will experience some side effects on this diet though they are no way as serious as drug side effects. The main side effect is the feeling of being hungry and experience cravings for specific foods. Additionally if you drink a lot of coffee then you may go through caffeine withdrawal. Sometimes individuals will feel sore and itchy and this is simply due to your body getting rid of toxins.
It should be noted that nutritionists and doctors do not recommend the cayenne pepper diet because it can cause your stomach to stop passing food and the amount of calories in the diet is far below the amount recommended for your body to function properly.
