Believe it or not, fluoride is bad for you even though your dentist wants to give you and your children a fluoride treatment every time you go in for a checkup. It is not that your dentist is intentionally trying to harm you but rather that your dentist does not have the proper information on the effects of too much fluoride in a person.

There once was a case of a child dying in the dentist’s chair due to a fluoride treatment. Since many people already receive enough fluoride from their water, toothpaste, and from other sources, it is important to limit any additional fluoride from being introduced into your body or the body of those you love and care for.

People have been taught for many years that fluoride is great for healthy teeth. The thing is though, there has been research that showed high teeth decay in towns with highly fluorinated water. This means that fluoride may not be the best for teeth after all.

It is tempting to want to stop ingesting fluoride all together but that is something that may not be within your control. Fluoride can be easily found in most toothpaste, household products, Teflon, tea, air pollution, public water, and various types of oral dental products. Because fluoride is just about everywhere, the best you can do is to limit exposure the best you can.

Taking steps to reduce the amount of fluoride that you ingest is the best thing that you can do. Begin by avoiding things that you know contain fluoride. This way, you will be less likely to receive an over dose of it. While you will still get some fluoride into your system, it will not be enough to harm you.

Throw out the toothpaste that contains fluoride and buy another brand. Stay away from non-stick pans as Teflon contains fluoride. Also make sure that you are getting the recommended amount of vitamin C and vitamin B6.

If you want to eat foods that are low in fluoride then you will want to add more eggs, coconuts, watermelons, red meats, and pineapple into your diet. Milk is also low in fluoride. Stay clear of as many sugars and starches as possible and make sure that you are getting regular checkups at the dentist.

While it is basically impossible to stay away from fluoride all together you can take steps to make sure that you and your loved ones are not getting too much of it in your system. Do not let the fear of fluoride run your entire life but make sure that you are aware of the problems that can come from ingesting too much of it. That knowledge alone will help you take the right steps in order to make sure that you are not facing a possible over dose.
