Do you ever wonder if the water that comes out of your tap could possibly be making you ill? Well, this is not as far fetched as you may think! It’s difficult to tell with water, as most municipal water looks the same, and unless you really delve further into what may be lurking within that clear liquid, how would you really know?
In reality, it’s not that hard to find out what’s in the water supply. All of the information is available to the public and this article is a summary of this information. Research scientists now use the terms “acceptable” or “unacceptable” to classify the level of contamination in the municipal water supply. In the past the term “pure” was used to classify drinking water.
Do you know why? Well, it’s because virtually all of our tap water is heavily contaminated with cesspool levels of nasty viruses, heavy metals, germs and even embalming fluid! Take a look below, as this is what is found in most municipal drinking water supplies.
There are millions of kilos of harmful chemicals dumped into public water supplies every year, and this is only includes the 650 chemicals that are registered by the EPA and listed as being toxic and deleterious to a persons health. This figure does not inclue the “safe chemicals” that are dumped in the water supply for good measure.
In samples taken from water supplies across the United States, heavy metals like arsenic, lead and mercury are commonly found. Many times the water is taken from the municipal water supply to be bottled and sold to consumers at a huge mark up.
A study that was recently published in the Journal of American Public health estimated that 40% of gastrointestinal diseases are picked up through the tap water that comes from the faucet in the kitchen.
What to do, you may ask?
Well, that’s a good question. There are many different methods of purifying water available in these modern times, but many of them have both pros and cons.
For example, carbon filtration is excellent for most contaminants across the board, and leaves the water tasting fresh and sweet. Unfortunately, this method of filtration fails to remove fluoride and some smaller viral contaminants. But for the most part, these are an excellent choice, as they are cheap, remove many of the organic volatiles, and virtually take out all of the chlorine – so no smell!
Lately, reverse osmosis filtration has become very popular. It is a very powerful method of cleansing water in its own right. While it effectively removes almost every contaminant from the water, including the very elusive and ubiquitous fluoride, it also removes the beneficial alkaline minerals. The removal of the alkaline minerals will often result in a depletion of mineral salts.
Distillation, another cleansing method that cleans virtually every contaminant, works in almost the same way as the reverse osmosis systems do. These systems work and work well, but in the long run, can lead to mineral depletion.
Next we’ll look at the ionizing machines. These are excellent systems in many respects, doing nearly everything that will lead to good healthy water – except for removing the dreaded fluoride! These units remove all acidic constituents, whilst delivering alkaline water deep within the body’s tissues. A good choice, but again, what are your preferences?
It often comes down to a compromise of a number of variables to have healthy, clean, and pure drinking water. By far the best option would be to install a small tank to collect water from the roof of your house and the run it through a quality alkalizing machine. Even a good dual stage carbon filter would work.
It ends up being nothing more than a personal preference. Remember, if you are able to keep the fluoride out of your mouth, you’re doing better that many others.

- Detoxing with Zeolites - Zeolites are formed naturally resulting from a chemical reaction between saline water and volcanic lava. Zeolites are structured like cages which have open spaces and channels. Ions and molecules can move easy into and out of the structure. This class of materials is known as molecular sieves.
