Tip 1 – The first step is to find healthy replacements for fatty, unhealthy foods. This should be done in two steps. Firstly, find replacement foods for any fattening, unhealthy foods that may tempt you. Secondly, find restaurants in your area with healthy versions of unhealthy foods that fast food restaurants tempt you with.

If there are foods that you find hard to resist because they taste good, are comfort foods or just plain convenient and you know these foods are bad for you, get your replacements ready. For example if ice cream is your desire, find a low-fat, low-sugar frozen yogurt. Buy it and have it ready in your freezer for those times of weakness.

Oftentimes, fast food restaurants are an alternative to home cooked meals because they are convenient when you just don’t feel like cooking. You may know the story; you tell yourself you’ll buy the salad but by the time you get to the counter the fries smelled so much better. You figure, next time I’ll eat healthy. Well, you can learn to avoid this temptation.

Look for healthier restaurants that are on your way home from work, close to your home, or close to your work. Some restaurants offer healthier versions of favorites such as protein burgers, which exchange bread for a healthier leafy, green lettuce wrapping. Other restaurants carry leaner black beans which can replace beans that have been fried in lard.

Some health food stores offer salad bars, lunch or sandwich counters. Many include tables inside or a patio area for dining. Seek out the restaurants that have convenient, fast yet healthy choices. Knowing about these restaurants will help you when you are tired or short on time. In addition, they may not tempt you with the smell of fried foods that will sabotage your weight loss detox.

Tip 2 – Drink plenty of fresh water and drinks that assist your weight loss detox. Stay away from diet drinks and sodas. They have no nutritional value and many health professionals believe they can make it harder for you to lose weight. Continue on for some healthy drinks that help you reach your goals.

Fresh grapefruit juice has long been an excellent juice for any weight loss program. It contains fat burning enzymes. Cranberry juice has been known to help your body eliminate fatty waste. Green tea has been shown to help dieters lose abdominal fat quicker than dieters who do not drink it. Some consider it to be an appetite suppressant. And lastly, warm lemon water adds much needed vitamin C while helping your body move excess waste out of your system.

Tip 3 – Eat a small, green salad before your lunch and evening meals. Add some other chopped vegetables to get towards your 5-7 servings a day goal. If you only like creamy dressings, such as Ranch, then add water to it and mix. This helps by thinning the dressing out so it covers more of your salad using less unhealthy fat. Eat your salad before the rest of your meal for the full benefit of this tip.

Eating your salad first may help curb your appetite so you eat less of the food to come. Even if it does not, the vegetables will still stimulate your digestive enzymes to start working. Food that is digested properly has less chance of storing and adding to excess weight.

Tip 4 – Take an Essential Fatty Acid supplement. Most of us do not get the required amount of EFA’s in our diet. This nutrient is important since it helps curb appetite, and some studies show that they actually help your body shed excess weight. Essential fatty acids are also important for heart health and proper brain function. These are both very important to helping you stay on your weight loss program.
